  • A: Our fees range between $150 and $225 per session, depending on the length of your appointment and which therapist you see. We reserve a portion of our practice for sliding scale or reduced fee structure.

Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate

Note: As of January 1, 2022, per the “No Surprises” Act, this information is required to be posted on our website.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.

  • A: We do not take insurance. We are considered out of network providers. We send all clients an electronic statement or “Superbill” on the 5th of each month. If your health plan covers out of network providers for mental health services, you can complete your insurance claim form and submit it to your insurer along with the statement to get reimbursed according to your care plan. If you are unsure about your health plan’s claim procedures or out of network coverage, we encourage you to contact your insurance company directly. Another way folks utilize their health care benefits is by using their Health Care Spending Account funds to pay for services.

For folks without health care benefits or who can not afford to pay out-of-pocket for therapy, we would be glad to provide you with a few resources that may help:

Open Path Collective for low fee Services

Open Counseling to search for Community Based Services

  • A: We only offer online video (Telehealth) sessions via our secure video therapy platform. With online therapy, we can serve anyone in the State of California.

    Some benefits of video therapy:

    • Sometimes folks can go deeper because they have increased comfort meeting us their own space, in cozy clothes.

    • Therapy may be more accessible. Clients can save money and time without the need for traveling or hiring a sitter.

    • Folks in rural areas can access affirming care and choose based on goodness of fit rather than location.

    • Sometimes clients can relate more openly and honestly with the physical distance between us.

    • Therapy feels less like an appointment you have to rush to and now is a source of slowing down.

  • A: Yes. We work with folks from all over California. As long as you are physically located in California at the time of your appointment, we can work together.

  • A: We’d be glad to talk with you and answer any question you have! Feel free to give us a call or text at 510-826-3359 or email us right here.

  • A: Ideally, we meet weekly to build momentum toward progress. However, we are aware that this schedule is not always possible for everyone. If that is the case, your therapist may have every other week availability.
